Nick Wahl's Website Evaluation Report

Evaluator 1: Alexandra

Alexandra is a family friend. She lives in the Mid-Missouri area and, as a retired person, spends a decent amount of time every year on vacation. She enjoys the Lake of the Ozarks and often vacations down there. Alexandra reviewed the website on a Macbook Pro running the most recent version of Safari.

Evaluator 2: James

James is my father. He lives in Mid-Missouri and is married with kids. He enjoys the Lake of the Ozarks and being on the water. He is also a computer programmer so he understands coding and the coding process. James reviewed the website on a Dell running the most recent version of Chrome.

Evaluator 3: Troy

Troy is a friend I know from college. Troy likes to be at the Lake of the Ozarks and spends quite a bit of time there. He has never coded in HTML but he often uses the internet to find places to stay. Troy reviewed the website on a Chromebook running the most recent version of Chrome.

Use Cases

I think I did support the three use cases outlined in my design document. The purpose of the website is to inform people about Big Bear Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks and based on the comments I heard I think I was successful in doing that. All the users were able to navigate the site well and find all the information they needed in order to maximize their user experience. I don't think any issues stood out that would have prevented the users from properly accessing my website. Moving forward I believe I can still serve all the use cases I highlighted in my design document.

Planned Changes to the Website Design

1. I plan on properly naming the pages. This was a common complaint in every evaluation I received. This is a simple fix, but an important one because it will allow the users who visit my site to know exactly what page they are on when navigating the site.

2. Another common thing I read on the evaluations is the lack of information on the attractions page. Moving forward, I will add more to this page and diversify the activities listed there. Also, if the activity has a website I will link to that website allowing the user the best and most informative experience. This should be another simple, but important fix.

3. Finally, the lack of color and pictures was another common note in the evaluations. I will correct this by adding more pictures to the website which will both add color and add depth to the website information as a whole. I think this will greatly improve the website's looks and the information it offers.

Reflections on the Evaluation Process

The evaluation process was very useful and will shape the direction I take moving forward with my website development. It is very hard to view something you have made with a critical eye so getting feedback on what you have made helps you see things that you might have missed. Also, the positive comments help build your confidence with what you have already made. I knew my website was not perfect and knew certain areas I had to improve, but having the evaluations made it that much easier to know exactly where I needed to focus my efforts.
